Packers Release Nick Collins

Nick Collins will go down as one of the best Packers in history

Nick Collins has been great for the Packers, every cheesehead knows this, and he was released today. This is a bittersweer lost for Packers Nation, because although we lose a great player, veteran, and locker room presence, we can be assured that Nick Collins will be safe. Nick Collins played for the Packers for seven seasons and totaled 340 combined tackles, 63 passes defended, and 21 interceptions, including a returned interception against the Steelers during the Super Bowl a few years ago.

In week 2 last season Nick Collins tried to tackle Panthers RB and bent his neck in an awkward motion. Nick Collins had to have neck surgery and fast-forward a few months was released. Nick Collins was replaced by Charlie Peprah, who often frustrated fans because of his consistent missed tackles. Morgan Burnett is another safety we have, who has great potential and will start this season next to Charlie Peprah, or any starter we select in the upcoming draft. Some people still think Charles Woodson will move to safety, which is very possible, but I would prefer we draft a starting safety and keep Woodson at his best position, cornerback.
